TACO Team Members are involved with TACO as an official creator in ways that make sense for their style of content, their availability, and their giftings. But we also want creators to be accountable to be actively working for TACO, improving their content, and being faithful to God in their life. We used to have a complicated “points system” with different activities in different categories, to try to track these things. But we found it cumbersome and intimidating. So we’ve replaced it with a more flexible “goals” program.

Our TACO Team Chaplain checks in with each of our team members at least monthly. He encourages each team member to share what’s going on in their life and in their content creation. Then they’re asked to share their goals (short or long term), and to report on progress on existing goals. Sometimes those are things that are more private, and sometimes they are things they might want to share with the team, or even things they’d like to share with the community.

Goals should be focused on what the creator, themself, is doing. (Not on hitting a number of followers.) Examples:

  • Organizational activities (within TACO or another group): Providing a training, creating a resource, or being part of an event.
  • Creator activities: Collaborations, affiliations, or sponsorships.
  • Content improvement: New technology, improved skills, more faithful or healthy routines.
  • Continued education: (Secular or Biblical, formal or informal.) Classes, conferences, seminars, books, etc.
  • Charitable work: Volunteering (physical or digital), donating, or fundraising.
  • Spiritual walk: Intentional growth in spiritual areas, such as Bible-in-a-Year, daily devotional time, or prayer goals.

What if a creator doesn’t meet their goals? Sometimes life changes and events mean we don’t hit a specific goal, or we change our priorities. We take that into account, and are flexible. However, we want to see our creators working, growing, and contributing. If we see that you aren’t actively able to do that for some reason, for more than just a month or two, we may ask you to step down from your TACO Team Member role.
